There’s no denying that fall is upon us here in Alberta. It’s a beautiful time to put on a sweater and enjoy a pumpkin-spiced something-or-other. It’s also a time when a lot of people scale back on the home improvement projects they had planned for the year.

It’s no secret that one of the hardest parts of getting work done around the house is finding a reliable contractor who has time in their schedule to take on your project. In the height of the spring, when everyone says, “This is the year when we get the kitchen/bathroom/deck, etc. redone!” it may be hard just getting someone to return your call.
However, in the fall, it’s a whole new ballgame. Better still, you may be able to get better deals on some of the fixtures and supplies you need as home improvement stores try to clear out their inventory before the end of the year.
Get Ready for “THE” Season
Sorry for bringing this up, but Christmas will be here before we know it. Can you imagine how lovely it will be to stop apologizing for the condition of your dining room or guest bedroom when your family comes to town? If you start the work for a relatively simple home maintenance project right now, you’ll be ready to open the doors to your guests in time for the holidays.
Inside Conditions are Always Great
It’s true that you can’t complete EVERY home improvement project in the fall. For example, because of the sustained daytime temperatures required for it to cure, parging the foundation will have to wait until the warmer weather is here again. Unless you’re looking into parging basement walls, which can be done at any time of year. In fact, the drier indoor conditions that are a plague of winter are arguably better in this case.
Anyway, just about any project on the inside of the house can be completed at any time of year. The cooler days of fall could be the ideal time to tackle jobs like painting. Don’t let the approaching cold keep you from getting the most out of your home at any time of year. It’s the most personal space on earth and you should have it just as you like it.
