Full foundation parging renewal for older, heavily deteriorated or repeatedly repaired parging in Edmonton and surrounding communities.
Full foundation parging renewal for older, heavily deteriorated or repeatedly repaired parging in Edmonton and surrounding communities.
A full recoat or replacement is usually the better option when deterioration is widespread and isolated patches would leave too much questionable material in place.
Replacement does not mean removing sound material just for the sake of exposing bare concrete. We remove loose, hollow and delaminated parging. Sound, firmly bonded material may remain where it provides a suitable base after preparation. The included elevation is then prepared and recoated to produce a continuous finished surface.
A durable recoat depends on the condition of the surface beneath it. We remove failed material, clean and prepare the retained substrate, use compatible bonding products where appropriate, and reinforce cracks or transitions when required before the new cementitious parging is applied.
When deterioration is spread across a wall, repeatedly patching individual spots can leave a foundation looking pieced together and can keep pushing the next repair only a few feet away. Recoating the included elevation provides a more uniform appearance and allows the preparation to be addressed as one complete scope.
We apply a consistent hand-finished texture across the included area. New cementitious material can cure to a different shade than older adjacent parging, especially where only selected elevations are renewed. Final appearance is also affected by the existing substrate and previous coatings.
New parging renews the exterior finish, but it does not stop structural movement or correct drainage, grading or waterproofing problems. If those conditions are causing the failure, they may need separate correction.
Qualifying parging replacement work is backed by our 30-year transferable warranty, subject to the written terms and exclusions.
We remove loose, hollow and delaminated material. Sound, well-bonded parging can remain where it is suitable to be prepared and recoated.
We look at how widespread the bond failure is, how much of the existing finish is hollow or separating, the number of previous repairs and whether the remaining surface provides a dependable base.
When failure is widespread, usually yes. A full recoat gives us the opportunity to address the preparation across the entire included area and provides a much more consistent finish than numerous individual patches.
Cementitious parging continues to cure after it has set and reaches full cure over approximately 28 days. Normal colour variation during curing is expected.

Send us photos of the foundation and we can recommend the appropriate scope based on the condition of the existing parging.
